Automated shuttles have been tested in numerous pilot projects across Europe. The central challenge is no longer technical feasibility, but the transition from isolated pilots to reliable and scalable public transport services. CAMINO-2 addresses this gap between strategic intent and operational deployment.
The following overview provides the analytical baseline for this work. It assesses the current Shared Automated Vehicle (SAV) ecosystem in terms of market readiness, regulatory frameworks and technological feasibility, and it benchmarks Europe's progress. The report also consolidates the key findings of the preceding CAMINO-1 project and translates them into practical considerations for the development of the SAV Blueprint Action Plan (SAV-BAP).
